Day 1 | From Harbor to Habitat
Arrive in Boston and settle into the excitement of the week ahead. After meeting your Tour Director, students participate in an orientation briefing before gathering for a welcome dinner and an introduction to the scientific discoveries and coastal ecosystems they will explore throughout the journey.
Day 2 | Innovation in Motion
Step into the world of innovation at MIT, where students explore one of the world's most influential campuses before diving into a hands-on Synthetic Biology Master Class. The day continues with marine discovery at the New England Aquarium and a walk through Boston's historic landmarks along the Freedom Trail.
Day 3 | Big Ideas & Bold Science
Discover how cutting-edge research is shaping the future through visits to the Broad Discovery Center and Harvard's world-renowned museums. A scientist interview and hands-on STEM experiences connect students with real researchers and show how curiosity leads to groundbreaking discoveries.
Day 4 | Research, Whales & Adventure
Explore how engineers and biologists work together to advance cancer research during a visit to MIT's Koch Institute. Later, head into Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary in search of whales and marine wildlife before ending the day with a team-building adventure.
Day 5 | From City Science to Coastal Discovery
Experience hands-on learning at Boston's Museum of Science before traveling to Cape Cod, where students begin exploring the coastal landscapes and natural systems that make this region one of New England's most remarkable environmental classrooms.
Day 6 | Coastal Ecology & Shark Science
Investigate marsh ecosystems, coastal habitats, and the wildlife that depends on them during a day of field-based environmental science. Visits to leading conservation organizations provide a closer look at shark research, marine stewardship, and the challenges facing today's coastal environments.
Day 7 | Ocean Discovery
Go behind the scenes at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and step aboard a working research vessel to experience ocean science in action. Through field investigations and laboratory experiences, students gain firsthand insight into how scientists collect and interpret data from the marine world.
